Juan Carlos Cano has been appointed Social Council Member of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) on behalf of the Governing Council of  the UPV.

January 17th 2013 took place the first coordination meeting of 2013 related to the activities involved within the Walkie Talkie project. In the project, sponsored by the «Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad» are involved three different Universities from Spain: Universitat Politècnica de València, Universidad Miguel Hernández and Universidad de Murcia. The project is lead by professors Juan-Carlos Cano, Manuel Pérez and Antonio Skarmeta and it deals with the design, evaluation and implementation of novel solutions and services related with Intelligent Transportation Systems.

El pasado viernes 21 de diciembre tuvo lugar el acto de graduación de los nuevos Ingenieros Informáticos por la UPV. Fue un auténtico placer y muy emotivo estar junto a algunos de mis antiguos alumnos. Os deseo lo mejor!, y ya sabeis donde esatré para cualquier cosa que pudiéseis necesitar. Un abrazo y ENHORABUENA!

La familia Cano junto a la familia Posadas participaron en la San Silvestre Solidaria 2012 organizada por la UPV. Una tarde genial en compañía de amigos y conocidos. Los que más disfrutaron los niños que se lo pasaron genial combinando Ocio, Deporte y Diversión. Además se recaudaron fondos para fines solidarios. El próximo año repetimos!

December 11th, 2012 I took part of the committee who evaluated the PhD thesis of Joan Lluis Ferrer i Pérez, which was supervised by professors D. Pedro López, D. Antonio Robles and Dña. Elvira Baydal. The thesis entitled  “Design of Efficient Packet Marking-based Congestion Management Techniques for Cluster Interconnects”, was masterfully defended by the candidate and the techniques there proposed represent a clear advance over the traditional Congestion Techniques in high performance computer systems. It was a pleasure to be part of this committee together with professors Vicente Santonja, Jose Manuel García, Pedro García, and Manuel Pérez. Congratulations Joan!

After the Phd. Defense we enjoyed a lunch at the traditional «El Cabanyal» restaurant where we taste shrimp with artichokes, cuttlefish in its ink, and codfish.

El 1 de diciembre de 2012 Andrea participo en el Open Internacional de Karate de la Federación Española Unificada de Artes marciales (FEUAM) que este año se celebro en la ciudad de Torrente. Andrea Participó en la competición de Katas individual y por equipos y en Kumite o combate. Además de pasarlo genial con todos sus compañeros, se proclamó Subcampeona de Katas y tercera clasificada en Kumite (combate) en la categoría 8 y 9 años femenino. Enhorabuena Princesita!

November 29th, 2012 I took part of the committee who evaluated the PhD thesis of D. Manuel Fogué, supervised by professors Francisco Martínez and Piedad Garrido. The Thesis entitled “Design and Evaluation of a Traffic Safety System base don Vehicular Networks for the Next Generation of Intelligent Vehicles” combined the concept of Intelligent Transport Systems with Artificial Intelligent to improve traffic safety in our roads improving both the detection of accident as well as the process of assisting the injured people. The Thesis received the International mention and so it was presented and defended in English. CONGRATULATION MANOLO!
